Mcdonalds + Bezalel Academy of Art and Design + Jerusalem Municipality
Depicting the architectural development of the Mcdonalds chain from original design through currently used models to future proposal. Also, a Mcdonalds timeline of patents. Underneath the M germ, duplication exponentially, ever growing and developing.
Typical "stand alone" Mcdonalds building and plans of an existing building of this typology in Jerusalem. Underneath a series of a-typical Mcdonalds that are primarily located in international urban centers. In these typologies the Mcdonalds takes on other forms and often integrates into a mixed use building. I propose adopting the latter model.
Diagrams from top to bottom depict programmatic location, public vs. private space, and movement circulation.

Enlisting the corporate giant McDonald to be a catalyst for positive social and spacial change in the urban enviornment.
The radical thesis suggests mutual benefit from a partnership between Mcdonalds and the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. Mcdonalds gain student customers, Bezalel gains studio spaces and dorms sponsored by Mcdonalds. Mcdonalds also improves their image by integrating more fully into the community. The Jerusalem municipality benefits because it revamps a run down area and inhabits a large abandoned building with a young vibrant population of students. Integration between the public, private and commercial are encouraged through the planning. To avoid an all to typical situation where the mixed use building is merely a conjunction of unrelated functions on separate floors I propose multi-level areas that foster inter-programmatic integration.
